Trias and his wife were both shot in the back of the head in their Chevy Chase,
Maryland home, on May 19, 1994. Trias, 49, was the son of a former justice
on the Puerto Rico Supreme Court, was was chief counsel for the Howard Hughes
Medical Institute in Chevy Chase, Maryland, one of the nation's largest philanthropies.
Trias and his wife Julie had met with a friend of theirs, a journalist, before
the day of their murder and told him of their plan to expose the Medical Institute's
funding of special "black ops" research projects.
